She is most famous for saving the life of Captain Smith, one of the English pioneers. Also this story based on it. And it includes the romance between Pocahontas and John Smith as main theme, the conflict of two people, Indian and English. It was awarded some prize on the part of music. I like this story and songs which are so beautiful.

This "Pocahontas's story" has been retold many times in many ways. The reason is the evidences of that she was saving his life are only diary by Jhon Smith about 10 years later after it happened. So there are someone who dobut this.

Pocahontas was her childhood nickname, "little wanton,"meaning she playful and hard to control and her real name is Matoaka. It's sure that she is role as a bridge with two nations. She married with English man, Jhon Ralph who meet at English Camp when she was a captive. She was taught Christian and made her changed of heart in that time. She went to England with Rolph and she was welcome by royal. Although her life was short she made a big achievement between two nation.

The disney version isn't true perfectly, I like this story though. She is charactrized so aggresive woman in film and could be true. No one can know the truth which indicates her whole life. I think it's a forbitten history into long history but there are no story that based on the things which had never happend really. If it's not abusolute true, could be thaught important meaning on war and how worse the destory of nature, human nature.

http://www.apva.org/history/pocahont.html

TORA!TORA!TORA!

This is one of the most remarkable nonfiction films for me.
The incledible point is to characterize both Japan and U.S. as the main. It means we can see each side with the way of own thinking in a film, for instance, there are scenes which Japanese decided to attack Pearl Harbor. And also the situation is drawn which U.S. doubt that Pearl Harbor would be attacked by Japan. Abusolutely it can be said this point is woderful because it's difficult to characterize two stories which opposite each other in ONE FILM.
This film supports to understand easily the background of Pearl Harbor Attack. And it made just 30 years after P.H.A!! So I think it could be a sensetional oppotunity for both countries because this story comes from the truth which they experienced and one of the most serious and important topics.
In film the main language isn't just one, it use two, English and Japanese. And there are a lots of scenes which explain each country's stance. It's useful for audience to compare its historical part. This time I could see both side through P.H.A, I couldn't understand the history parfectly though. So I felt the section of tech which I explaind is a wonderful highlight in it.

☆★☆My Fair Lady☆★☆

I love this film so much!! He is called "Lawrence of ARABIA" Because he was revolutionist in that time. The first scene begins that the accident with a motorbike caused his death and almost all couldn't image his heavy life just from it. I was surprised at this story and had some kinds of feelings, awful and harsh ...sorrow...

I sugesst the highligh of this film is his expression and feeling, so I mean how to change its well. You should look at his face carefully, for instance, his face has been controled by fear gradually in the latter half of the film. You can also feel his feelings as if experience it yourself as he did.

I felt so harsh because I watched it after "Gandhi" so I compared caracteristic between Lawrence and Gandhi. Especially, there is huge difference on the way of thinkness about the violence. But it's oviously that Lawrence is usual person. I can't mention which is right. The most memorable scene is that he got out the room and it is not any longer there is appearance of him there and a man who followed him sheds tears quietly.

Finally I'd like to say that I don't prefer his character exactly because he run away and said terrible things sometime, however, he fought against very well and it's great memory in the history. And Peter O'Toole's acting was really wonderful.

I found an interesting site. It's written in Japanese but there are included a lot of imformation about films. After that I though what's the meaning. It must be an important official job when I saw the tytle. But it includes another meaning, teaching Christianity. I seldom use this word in our culuture. So I didn't notice the meaning of tytle first. There are the lines "I don't know which was the correct way for natives" it means they were killed because they started to have the belief. Father Gabriel taught them "Love". I was shoked that this sorrowful ending because I suggest nothing is so precious than lives in the world. In order to the belief, they lost many lives. The fear is always make fight and break one's culuture. I can't say which is the best way for them. What do you think about it?

And there are many impressed scenes which they are walking around Father Gabriel and they were singing a song with the beautiful voices, and the sorrowful ending. In my opinion it was needed to know the religion, and they were learning the important things, precious, and it could not be nothing the insted. I really want to say the life is precious...

The way to guard natives from the enemy
Gabriel said "Protest them with the way as priest"and he did until his last. There are the scene which he is worried about it with regret, responsibility, and conflict. Because he taugh them belief. Finally he made his mind to be Father Gabriel and theach "Love" until his last. On the other hand Mendoza decided fight against their enemy. He has strongly passion. He killed his brother and determinded to kill anyone never. Also he regarded native as just a slave at first, however, he loves them deeply finally. He decided his way that fight with his force. Gabriel and Mendoza decided that with their strong will. It said that they are contrastive but they have the same meaning for their life.

GOOD BYE, LENIN!☆ You can learn the difference between East Germany and the West.

The title means that how does he protect his mother from the truth.
But who is the person that really believe the existence of East Germany?

The story begins October in 1989. As you know the year before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Alex has lived in East Germany scince he was born. His father went to the West and he never ccme back. His mother, Christiane is the extreme socialist because of his disappearance.

One day Alex participated in the anti-DDR( East Germany) demonstration. And Christiane encountered the policeman arrested him. So she was shocked and it caused her a heart attack. She went into a coma. Suddenly she awaked eight months later but the doctor said she couldn't live if she suffer from next any shocks. But there are no East Germany that she had believed a long time...due to the unification. Almost all of basic culture were changed and disappeared the products that made in the East. So Alex try hard to create East Germany for his mother and he use all the way for it , however he gradually stick to his own world. And it affects also his personality.

This film showed the difference between the East and West completely. And also I could understand how to change the East. Not only the products but also the consumer goods, content of books, TV, pectures, and it changes the personality, the way of thinkness. I was surprised that soon the East one disappard in there and the culture of West was accepted by the East people. I think it shows the terrible oppression in the East.
There are a lot of point that you would be shocked and notice. What do you think if Japan divided the land into two after the World War Ⅱ? I think Japan would be like Germany and we must not forget Japan had the possibility.
So I recommend this film because you can learn the history about the fall of the Berlin Wall well. But it was one of the interesting film that I wanted to see. So I'm satisfied with the film now.
After I watched it my impression was that I could enjoy two stories! "Shakespeare in Love" and "Romeo and Julliet", though I saw the later in the film. I think it's uncommon style for film that show the play in the film. But this film contrast with another story! This comparison make better story and it helps that manifestations of emotion well.
The story goes on with the play. And it means the love of Will and Viola. No matter how the story ends, their love grew up deeply.
And it continues the beginning of next story, TWELFTH NIGHT. The heroine is his lover, Viola. So I think it is enduring story like this. And I was impressed that thier memory have existed in the play forever and I could see it that the story in the 16th century!! Shakespeare's play are loved by all of the world. Oh, I'm glad that I could also watch Queen Elizabeth in this film and learn the custom of play in that period.

The Message

This film is based on the birth of Islamic faith. And it is the fourth prophet's story. The prophets are Abraham and Moses and Christ and Mohammed. He received the message from The Angel Gabriel. And he led his people. Finally he won Mecca from his enemy who oppressed Mohammed and his believer.
My first impression of this film is that it includes some of the cruel sights. For examples, acts of violence to servant, battles and presecution. I couldn't believe the sight of that the lord lay a whip on his servant's back and put a big stone on his body. I was shocked at these scenes so I couldn't watch this film in usual mind. The most cruel one that I think is the scene of presecution of the believer that think the Got is the one when Hamza who supports Mohammed and his follower wasn't in Mecca. The mother was killed by a person who believe the idols of Kabba (it means they believe about 300 gots.) And his son watched this scene under his eyes.
They kill people because of the differense of faith. I don't have the strong religion. Maybe I'm a member of a religion but I have never know it. Because almost of Japanese have no strong faith. We celebrate the event of Christian. But when we died we usual perform funerals in Japanese style (Buddhism or so on) . So it is hard to understand the feeling that can't allow other religions completely. Still now the war happen because of different of faith.

But I was glad I saw the scene of that many people follow Mohammed.
And I could know the birth of Islamic thanks to this film. I think it is difficult to know the history of religion but the films is great tool to know its, isn't its?
Certainly each religion have deep history and the way to think about the mean of life. It's important for us to learn and know its. I could learn three stories about the birth of religion(The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, and The Message!! )

And I introduced the story of "The Message" simply, so if you want to know more background, you can get more information from this site. http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/movie.aspx?m=166054

See you soon!!

The Ten commandments

The director is Cecil B. de Mille. This film is remake that he made in1923. So he made "The Ten Commandments" twice! And this made in 1957. This film was spent for 10 years to make it. The cost is 13 million and 5 hundred thousand dollars in that years. The background of it is the Exodus and other Holy bible. The main cast are Charlton Heston as Moses, Yul Brynner as Ramses II, Anne Baxter as Nefretiri.
My first impression of this film is that it shows many people's feelings well, for instance Nefretiri' jealousy. She is Moses's lover in past and become Ramses's wife. She loves Moses so much but she hates Ramses. But it's not only these two feelings in her mind. This point could be caught many feeling by each person variously. I think she is a person who can live in love for Moses. But she notice the change of his mind and she has hate on Moses because her love is much deeper than his love. So she has the feeling that similar to jealousy because of her strong love for Moses. It shows each person's human nature well. So I can image many aspect on the characters.
And I have a doubt on the filming. Many people have the same question probably. Do you remember the scene of the break of the Red Sea? It was used supecial effects but that years CG was no exist! Almost all of films are used CG and other techniques recently. It's usual for recent films but "The Ten Commandments" was produced before a half of century! It's great to make these scenes with techniques in that years. I would like to know how to make this scene. Do you have any idea about the way of filming?
My friends said"This film is so long." Yes, it takes 228 minutes. But I didn't feel so long to see it because I really like a this kind of film. I enjoyed it so much. I can't believe that it produced before a half of century. I was surprised in the great picture, actor's performance, story, building, number of actor and so on.
These days I saw other two films. I will write about "Ben Hur" and "The Message" in this blog. But this film is my favorite one.

BEN HUR (1959)

Can you believe that it was released in1959?
The background of this film is Jerusalem in the final year of Christ . JUDA BEN HUR is Hebrew and the sphere of the nobility. In this story he vow revenge on his enemies who was his especial friend, Messala. This man is Roman and he betrayed Ben hur because of the diffrence of race. Ben hur received terrible suffering because his mother and sister were confined. But he didn't give up and finally he gripped glory. And also Christ was described. Ben hur was helped by Christ. this story is holy one.
I was surprised that it was released in 1959.The reason why I was surprised is highly techniques in the scene of race with Messala. They ride tanks which are led by 4 hourses.

Welcome to Mei Film Land!

Hello!
